In turbinate coblation, the probe is inserted into the turbinate and vaporizes excessive nasal tissue within 0.5 mm of the probe surface with a radiofrequency current.
Nasal obstruction can be caused by a variety of problems, the most common of which is allergy, either seasonal (hay fever) or from dust mites or mold (rhinitis). Obviously a visit to the doctor is called for to diagnose if the cause of the problem is a blocked nose caused by allergy. If this is the case, the doctor might prescribe antihistamines, decongestants or possibly a nose spray containing corticosteroids.
Untreated allergic reaction as well as colds and flue can also lead to sinusitis which is another form of nasal obstruction. The ear, nose and throat doctor might prescribe antibiotics but often the problem can be recurring. Washing the back of the nose with one of the sea salt solutions on the market can be very useful in preventing sinusitis and keeping out of drafts (draughts) when you have and existing problem such as a cold is also useful.
Other causes of nasal obstruction include deviated septum, nasal polyps, and enlarged turbinates - which are bones inside the nose. Only a trained ear, nose and throat specialist will be able to diagnose and treat these problems.
