What to take to Boost Your Brain

Brain Food nourish your brain cells, can help boost brain function and protect against memory loss

Blueberries

blueberries are rich in anti-oxidants which protect against free radical damage to our skin and many of our organs

Antioxidants help ward off the effects of free radical damage. The blueberry is one of the most powerful foods containing antioxidants on the planet and USDA researchers have proved that blueberries have the highest levels of free radical fighters compared to over 40 other fruits and vegetables.

Blueberries are packed with potent plant compounds called anthocyanins and contain four times the free radical-fighting power of vitamin C. They are one of the few antioxidants that destroy free radicals that attack your brain. They also combat inflammation, protect neurons, and fend off amyloid plaques.

Studies show a daily dose of blueberries is an excellent brain food which helps you keep your memory sharp and your brain stay coordinated as you age. One recent study looked at people in their 70s suffering from poor memory. The group that consumed blueberry juice each day, scored much higher on learning and memory tests than the group who consumed a placebo.

Ginkgo Biloba

Ginkgo biloba has long been used in Chinese medicine to boost memory and heart health as well as to increase circulation. Alternative practitioners in the West have recommended this versatile herb for circulation since decades. Because gingko biloba increases circulation, it floods your brain with energy and speeds up mental performance. It also protects neurons and brain tissues from free radical damage though its powerful antioxidant-like properties. Multiple studies show gingko biloba is an efficient brain food which improves memory, attention, and thinkin and halts mental decline. This memory-boosting herb also offers better circulation and fewer allergy symptoms.

Acetyl L-Carnitine (ALC)

L-Carnitine is a nutrient which energizes and supports your heart, ALC does the same for your brain by its ability to cross the blood-brain barrier and nourish your brain cells. It also repairs damaged mitochondria, which helps your brain work more efficiently. It also It rebuilds worn-out myelin which stops brain aging. A study by Stanford University School of Medicine on 334 adults with serious mental decline. Researchers were stunned by the results showed that ALC reduced forgetfulness and other signs of decline when measured against a placebo.

Alpha-Glycerylphosphorylcholine (Alpha-GPC)

Researchers at Harvard, Stanford, Johns Hopkins, Duke, UCLA, and other top universities have discovered three hidden triggers that cause frequent memory lapses and mental decline. They’re the missing link scientists have been seeking for years!

You need acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter so you can remember things like where you put your keys or recall someone's name but neurotransmitters decline as one ages. Your brain needs a nutrient called choline to make acetylcholine but as one ages the body has a more difficult time processing choline, resulting in both a deficiency in both choline and acetylcholine. Increasing the amount of choline that gets to your brain can improve the memory enormously. This has been proved by recent studies which saw "senior moments"-reduced dramatically when participants had enough choline

According to Second Opinion Newsletter, a Duke University study showed that giving choline to rats produced vastly superior brains with more neuronal connections. The rats demonstrated increased learning ability and better memory recall, well into old age.More than 20 studies involving over 5,000 patients show that Alpha-GPC increases alertness, boosts learning, and revitalizes mental performance, even in people with severe mental decline.

Pure choline has a fishy smell but AlphaGlycerylphosphorylcholine, or Alpha-GPC has no smell and is more easily absorbed. According to Second Opinion Newsletter it will make your mind as crisp as it was decades ago.

Bacoba

If you are having problems staying focussed, it could be because you are not getting enough GABA, a neurotransmitter which calms the mind and filters out distrations. A natural herb, called bacopa monnieri, or bacopa is a brain food containing chemicals that increase GABA. They also repair damaged nerve cell connections which enables your brain to send and receive messages more efficiently.

Studies show that bacopa lowers anxiety, improves memory and boosts retention of new information. This herb also soothes frazzled nerves which helps manage stress and boosts mental performance, enabling people to become less accident prone and sleep better,

Phosphatidylserine (PS)

PS is a healthy brain fat that is essential to building healthy cell membranes. This brain food boosts circulation to the brain, helping to boost brain function and protect against memory loss The body makes less PS with age and it is impossible to get enough of this fat from diet alone .

Studies showed that PS helped patients over 50 with memory loss compared to those given a placebo. After 12 weeks, those people taking PS had an easier time concentrating, remembering telephone numbers, paying attention while driving, and finding misplaced objects.

Patients were tested for their brain age before and after the experiment and after taking PS they tested as 12 years younger than the usual results for their age. Over 61 clinical trials and 2,800 research papers support these results.

Vinpocentine

As you age, your circulation becomes more sluggish. When the brain does not get enough oxygen, the results memory loss and even serious mental deterioration. An extract from the periwinkle, called vinpocentine can boost blood flow to your brain, giving it the increased oxygen it needs. Studies show it helps people recall new information more easily and feel more focused. Even people suffering serious mental decline notice and 100 percet of elderly people showed memory improvement compared to those taking the placebo.
